Friday 8th April 2016
The Eagle Inn, Salford
It was an incredible night down at The Eagle Inn on Friday for the launch of the single ‘Wonderful’ by Karl Walsh & The Happy Future. Support came from acoustic artist Martin Minshall and Indie Rock band The Nix.
Martin Minshall kicked off the night with some catchy acoustic songs from his recently released EP ‘Chameleon’ such as ‘Please Don’t Hide Away’ and my favourite of the set ‘Hey You!’. He certainly gave a great energy to the room to get the night started and delivered a mesmerising performance.
Following Minshall was Stockport based Indie Rock band The Nix, who are certainly beginning to build up a reputation for themselves with their infectious and memorable guitar licks alongside their entertaining stage performance. They treated us to tracks from their debut EP ‘Luna’ alongside some new ones including ‘Its All Games’.
For the grand finale we had Karl Walsh & The Happy Future and it was indeed ‘grand’. There was a great energy throughout their set with a mixture of slow and fast tracks to keep the audience from guessing what was coming next. Amongst their songs were tracks from their debut EP ‘Song 10’ and previously unreleased songs such as ‘Birds’. However I must say the most entertaining and thrilling moment of the night was the performance of ‘Wonderful’, which was what the whole audience was their to celebrate the release of. With lyrics and a beat that are so memorable you are already singing along by the end of the first chorus, we were also then treated to a specially extended part of the set that gave the song that extra burst of energy that was perfect for the night.
‘Wonderful’ is released on 25th April and is now available to pre-order now from iTunes here.
